I do enjoy this book and will use it as a resource in the future. My only concern (and it is mentioned in the forward) is that the book lacks a level of detail that I was hoping for. It hits on some really good info, but I bought it in hopes of mastering certain skills. This is more of a reader's digest type of content.

Not very detailed. Doesn't tell you the difference in edable plants an none enable plants that could cause death

The book was smaller than I expected and I felt like too much space was taken up by old recipes. Not worth all the hype and high price I paid for it, in my opinion.

This book has been cut back to the basic herbs without anything to help, like wild lettuce, is not in this book anymore along with any other of nature's remedies.

I believe it is as valuable as a pantry full of survival food in a crisis. I began surfing through the table of contents and ended up reading the entire book. Gets right to the point, and, very informative. Clear pictures. Covers every topic I would want and many I didn't think of.We also gathered wild foods and medicines. I still do some and share that with others. I love learning about natural and wild foods, medicines, Pemmican making, old ways of doing things and incorporating that into my life.

If you know anything about anything, save your money. I was reluctant to buy this book, but I finally fell for the click bait. Sorry for my gullibility. It's pretty.

I enjoy the book. Was hoping for a little more. Maybe less plant stuff, more skill stuff. Huge chapter on pemmican.

About the Author

Chris Humphrey began traveling at the tender age of five, when he ventured across town to a friend's grandmother's house. When he took a year off from college to backpack through Africa and the Middle East, his parents saw the writing on the wall and gave up all efforts to worry about him.Chris first became smitten by Honduras in 1990 while backpacking through South America. Sitting on a dock in La Ceiba looking to catch a tramp freighter to Nicaragua, he instead hopped a boat out to Utila, in the Bay Islands. Seduced by the mellow Honduran vibe, he wandered on to the soporific beach town of Trujillo and then headed up into the mountains of Olancho, drinking endless cups of wickedly strong coffee and chatting with the local cowboys.Chris got started as a writer in 1994, after college, when he threw everything into a VW van and moved to Mexico City to work as a journalist. He first wrote for a couple of English-language newspapers, then with a financial wire service, and later as a freelance reporter with whomever deigned to buy his stories, including the San Francisco Chronicle, National Geographic Traveler, Outside, and Latin Finance, among many others. In 1997, he wrote the first edition of Moon Honduras. Chris is also the author of Moon Mexico City. These days, Chris lives in London, England, working on his PhD and wistfully dreaming about sunny beaches, palm trees, and a cold Salva Vida.Amy E. Robertson is a Seattle native who is obsessed with travel. She studied in Boston and Madrid for her bachelor's degree, and upon graduating took a job with an international consulting firm. This position led Amy to a life of globetrotting—she traveled to more than 50 countries in less than 3 years. She then returned to school, earning a master's degree in development studies at the London School of Economics, where she also met her Italian husband. After working in international aid for five years in New York City, Amy and her family moved to Ecuador. Amy became so deeply impressed by the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the country that she decided to start writing about it. Her writing has been published in National Geographic Traveler, Christian Science Monitor and Travel + Leisure, among others.Amy currently resides in Honduras with her husband and two young children, but spends three months a year divided between her family's hometowns: Seattle, Rome, and Messina (Sicily). Together, Amy and her family enjoy exploring the mountain villages, Mayan ruins, white-sand beaches, and lush forests of Central America. Received timely and as described. A nice, simple book on the islands and things to do. Since we are visiting for inky a few hours as part of a cruise ship destination, I hope to utilize some of the tips suggested.

Good idea to have a guide just for the Bay Islands and not the whole of Honduras. Good guide. A bit out of date. No publishing date in the book I think tho' it was stated on Amazon. 2010.

This book gave great suggestions that helped out in our recent trip to Roatan.

It's OK - most of this information is available at various websites, but it's nice to have it all in one place. Did not use it much once on the island because we were on a dive vacation and didn't have that much open free time.

Ok, some of the information was not up to date.

I had no idea what to expect at Roatan - this book gave me some useful information for my first trip to a beautiful snorkeling island!
