Tom Peters is one of the high priests of the 21st Century Business Revolution. This book, now nearly 20 years old, contains still relevant observations on developing your career, leadership, learning and education, management foibles, globalization, innovation, diversity, competition and many other elements of business and life that seemingly struck Peters while he was writing.The approach of the book itself is a little offbeat, with Peters' common approach of multi-font typesets, photos, quotes and interviews, off the wall comments and seemingly random or disjointed observations. This book, unlike some of his others, suffers a bit from this randomization, and the readability is impacted somewhat.The content, however, once you get past the organization of the book, is top shelf. The observations Peters made 20 years ago held up to the test of time, particularly his globalization observations on Malaysia and India (though he missed the mark on Indonesia and China). By standing the test of time well, and with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, it gives the book greater gravitas for those elements that you may need to or want to put into practice in your own life, career or business. It also adds credence to Peters more recent works.This book should be on the reading list of any manager who is looking to move beyond average and pursue a "wow" career.

One of the most highly influential business books I have ever read (and I have read many). This seminal volume is (only slightly) dated now, but the ideas and philosophies in it are still pure gold. This should be required reading in the first semester of every MBA program (in fact, I understand it is in a few). As a strategic planning consultant (not my primary career--I do it purely for fun; I am a psychotherapist), I often ask my clients to read this. It is of immense value for entrepreneurs and management, as well as anyone hoping to be promoted into management. If you want to lead, this is a great place to start building that skill set.

Tom Peters writes an excellent book. He wrote this book years ago but the ideas still hold true for today! This is excellent whether you are or aren't an out of the box thinker on service but it really gets you thinking and excited about the service industry. So many people out there could learn so much in this day and age. This was easy reading and very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it. One of the best books I have read and that means a lot.

Today's careers require people who "make a difference." No one is looking for someone that performs at the same level as "the last person." Tom Peters does a great job of explaining how to select projects, stand out in a crowded field and have the impact we're all searching for but, more importantly, the ongoing impact today's business world demands for long-term success.

I love this book. My most recent purchase was for a few more copies to give away to business associates. The theme is doing things to make yourself special, and what a lesson it is for junior staff who are stuggling just to finish the day. It helps me inspire them to do just a bit more to accomplish just a tad more, and to become a little more special and unique. This was one of the last books Tom wrote before he went all goofy on the fonts and produced books that were unreadable. This one is from his golden years.

This book is okay to read, but while I started reading this book seriously to read it all at once, I just oculdn't do it at once. It took me lot longer to finish this book than most others -- compared to the size of the book, not because the content is bad, but the way it has been written.Don't get me wrong this book is not a waste of time or money, and in fact, points delivered out of this book are well stuck to my brain that I use it regularly, but when you are reading a "Tips" book, it is hard to remember continuously everything thing and use it, so you have to stop and read some other time -- more like reading Gita/Bible/Qaran -- Absolutely fantastic words of wisdom, but can't swallow it all at once and by the time your each the end, it is lot longer..I was thinking between a 4 star and 5 star for this book, but it ended up with 4 star, because, I didn't intend this book to be written this way -- better set of examples/anectodes would have made the book more interesting to read and remmeber the points easier, forever.

I enjoyed the story very much and would highly recommend the book. Jonnah was the hero every woman wants and loved Abby the way we all want to be loved!

The book itself is well written. I liked the characters. Sex scenes were not extremely detailed, but kind enough to the reader for some hot flashes. It was sweet to see the heroine grow up. Now to be honest, this is the first book of hers I have read and really reads like a series with cliffhangers. Loose ends abound. The bad guy is not caught even in the epilogue . For my tastes, I prefer a more tightly woven book. I do not enjoy cliffhangers. It seems so unfinished to me. I am fine with introducing the next book characters, but this was too much. That being said, I read the book in a day, so the author moved me along and kept my attention. I needed more from the book to feel satisfied in giving it more stars. To give you a clue to what keeps my attention, Lilliana Heart and Nicky Charles.

This was a great read.....I started reading it and finished far into the night. I heartily recommend it.........However the ending was awful. The stories ending was purposely cut short leaving the resolve for another book. I really resent the time I spent on this story only to be forced to read the next book to find out what was the completion of the saga. I can guess the gist of the next book........Iona's letter to her daughter Julianna about a trust fund for her caused the daughter to return to her hometown to claim it. The sleazy lawyer who was in charge of the trust spent it and is in trouble, goaded and pressured by the equally sleazy banker......yards yada yada.If a writer can't trust herself to write a compelling story that resolves itself at the end, that would want readers to get her next book, then she should quit until she gains confidence in herself.I gave a very good book a lousy rating because I resent tricks.

It's a good thing Patricia shoved Abby and Jonah together before they each blew their one chance for a happily ever after. Some people can be so stubborn when they believe they know what's best or right for everyone else. Loved the description of the horses and especially the "taming" Abby did on the rather spirited horse no one else wanted to tame.

Abby is a vibrant, strong woman. She makes this story ring. I enjoyed the action, the family, the loving and the suspense.

Favorite scene with Abby-Her final battle with Edmund.Favorite scene with Jonah-Patricia showing him that Abby was meant for him.Together-Their first meeting, Abby making him fall from his horse. :)What did you like about Abby-Her stubborness and feistiness. Her love for everyone around her. Her toughness.What didn't you like about Abby-She was going to do whatever she wanted. And when it came to crucial things, likeEdmund's threats, she was going to keep them to herself.What did you like about Jonah-His strength, thinking he had to do the right thing where Patricia and Abby wereconcerned and his dedication to his work.What didn't you like about Jonah-That he was still willing to marry Patricia, even after being with Abby. Holy crap, these stories are intense! I'm so glad that this book was written; for anyone who feels like a "freak" for identifying with fictional characters, this one is a must. The stories are human and thoughtfully written. I don't know why one has never come out before. There are some real eye-openers, like "Wayward AF" by Kim Rhodes and "Stroke Of Luck" by Rob Benedict, not to mention "My Hero Wears A Beanie" and "Sober For Sam". But it's Jared Padalecki's story that really hit me hard. I read it twice crying both times because I've totally been where he is. I am in awe of the honesty and bravery of his essay and truly appreciate how hard it must have been for him to write it and share it with us. Thank you so much, Jared. And thank you, Lynn Zubernis for writing this and making me feel less like a freak! Now I understand WHY I identify the way I do. I am empowered!

To be honest, I bought the book because, well, Supernatural! (duh!) I've been a fan of the show for a few years and have fallen in love with two brothers from Kansas who spend their time fighting monsters, "saving people, hunting things." At the same time, I fell in love with two guys from Texas who have shared so much with us, the Supernatural fandom. They're young enough to be my own; I'm so proud of all they manage to do for the Show, the fans, their families, all of it. That they and their friends are willing to share with us what this fandom, this family, means to them is special. The words written by fans and crew, folks we don't know? Some of whom we've never heard of? As Dean Winchester would say, "Awesome!"Lynn Zubernis does a wonderful job pulling together heartfelt stories from cast, crew, and fans alike. I laughed, cried, and then laughed while I cried. It's that good. She put the book together in a way that it flows, up and down, meandering through topics (some funny, some heart-wrenching, all good) gently and smoothly. At the same time, you can read a chapter and put it down to come back to later. No need to rush through it. (And there are several side articles that explain a few of the charities and organizations that some of these people started/are a part of. Contact information included.)If you're a fan of Supernatural, or if you just want to read what Misha Collins, Kim Rhodes, Jared Padalecki, Matt Cohen, or any one of several other cast members, crew, or fans who contributed, have to say about this Fandom, this is that book. While Jared's chapter and Rob's both hit me hard, it was the fan chapters that were the most intense.This is the book that you can show to your friends and family when they don't understand that Supernatural show you watch or why you want to spend your hard earned money on conventions. This is the book you will show people when they tell you the cast members don't actually care about you and that the "SPNFamily" isn't a real thing. This book is a flashlight illuminating the dark parts of ourselves as people (not just as fans or actors) that we're oftentimes afraid to examine.When you read this book (which you will) please read it with an open heart and an open mind. Do not be afraid to look at the dark parts. Do not avoid the things that will make your heart skip a beat, tears form in your eyes, and your breath catch in your throat. Do not be scared to quietly whisper "Me too," as you read these compelling stories of people finding their home and their hearts in this fandom. I ended up giving my copy to my daughter (age 19), who was recently diagnosed after suffering debilitating panic attacks. "We" are not alone! This book proves it--we're not just a fandom--we ARE a family!

I can't begin to describe how grateful I am to have gotten this book. I've dealt with depression, anxiety and social anxiety and started watching Supernatural as a simple distraction. And through this book, I found that I'm not the only one who found so much more within the show and through the cast and crew. Through the SPNFamily. I was left with the feeling healing, comfort, and hope after reading it.

I have not even gotten 1/2 way through this book, and it has touched me so deeply. This goes way beyond any previous ideas most people have of fandoms. Like the show, the messages are clearly positive. Never give up, and you are not alone. Geeks and dorks unite - there is nothing wrong with being true to who YOU are. Very personal and touching. An unexpected jewel.

I started out reading Jared's chapter(sorry I know you aren't suppose to skip to the end LOL) and was crying by the end of it. So beautifully written and heart felt. I have now gone back to the beginning and am reading the rest of the stories. I recommend this book not only for Supernatural fans but for any other fandom that wants to learn what it can truly mean to have a community/family. Would LOVE to have a part 2!

More than two dozen short tales and poetic bits come from oral traditions of the Blackfoot, Lakota, Cheyenne, and other Indian nations. A librarian, administrator, and information technology expert, Edward M. Corrado is Associate Dean, Library Technology Planning and Policy at the University of Alabama where he is responsible for the information technology operations and planning, and executing a strategic vision for library technology. He has published and presented nationally and internationally on various topics including digital preservation, cloud computing, open source software, emerging technologies in libraries, and the role of libraries in democracy 2.0. He earned his MLS from Rutgers University. Heather Moulaison Sandy is assistant professor at the iSchool at the University of Missouri. Her research focuses on the intersection of organization of information (e.g., cataloging and classification, and metadata) and digital information technologies (e.g., digital libraries and platforms), with the long-term access to materials emerging as a natural combination of the two. Moulaison Sandy has published and presented nationally and internationally in these areas. As a new student to digital preservation field, I appreciate how well written and easy to read this book is. It provides lots of research, and resources.

I have added this book to my "Amazon wish list." A very helpful review was published in the Metropolitan Archivist by Julia Kim, National Digital Stewardship Resident, NYU Libraries, where she says on page 9, "Corrado and Moulaison emphasize that digital preservation is 'mostly a management issue,' rather than a purely technical issue (13). It is also a financial issue. As Corrado and Moulaison point out, there has been scant attention paid to 'how we can ensure that digital preservation activities survive beyond the current availability of soft-money funding' (77). They argue that concepts such as 'return on investment' are critical for sustainability and must be a part of our discourse. At this stage in the development of this quickly emerging field, institutions clearly can no longer rush to digitize at-risk content without a better understanding of the cost and values over the very long term." Jeremy McCarter wrote cultural criticism for New York magazine and Newsweek before spending five years on the artistic staff of the Public Theater, where he created, directed, and produced the Public Forum series. Let's just accept it...when Lin-Manuel Miranda does something, he does it right, all the way, and maybe better than anyone else.I'm fortunate enough to have seen "Hamilton" twice. I've read the Chernow biography, listened to the cast recording non-stop (ha) since September, and been an avid follower of Lin's tweets, Facebook posts, interviews, #Ham4Ham shows, and Genius annotations. I've been a musical theatre geek for five decades and have never felt this excitement about any show (with the possible exception of A Chorus Line). So when I heard months ago that Lin and former New York magazine drama critic Jeremy McCarter were putting together a book about the creation of "Hamilton," I pre-ordered my copy and started counting the days. Now it's here, and.... wow. Just wow.Given the show's deserved status as a cultural phenomenon that will be playing to sold-out houses for years, it would have been easy to just throw together a "behind-the-scenes" book with a few interviews, toss in some publicity stills, and have a guaranteed best-seller. This "Hamiltome" couldn't be further from that. Among other delights, it includes: the full libretto of this sung-through (and rapped-through) show, with extensive annotations from LMM that give new insights, meaning, and historical context to the words that you might already know by heart; more than 30 essays about the cast members, the production team, the creative process, and the facts of Hamilton's life; copies of relevant historical documents referenced in the show; pages from LMM's notebooks with early drafts and outlines; and a stunningly beautiful array of production photographs, cast portraits, and backstage candids. And all of this is thoughtfully organized and packaged in a beautifully bound volume with ivory deckle-edged paper - a book like books used to be. (Trust me, this is one book you don't want to read on Kindle; it's actually a sensory experience to hold it and turn the pages.)As McCarter notes in the Introduction, the title "Hamilton - The Revolution" has two meanings. There is the American Revolution that is brought to life in this show, and there is the revolution of the show itself - "a musical that changes the way that Broadway sounds, that alters who gets to tell the story of our founding, that lets us glimpse the new, more diverse America rushing our way." Do what you can to see "Hamilton," either on Broadway or when it comes to your town. It's unlike anything else. Until then, this book and the original cast recording will get you as close as possible to an orchestra seat at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

Don't buy the Kindle version. It is not in Kindle format; it's just photocopies of double columned pages that doesn't fit the screen and is very hard to read. You have to manually enlarge each page separately if you want to read it.

A few days back, I wrote a piece on my blog to try to explain how much I love Lin-Manuel Miranda's astonishing musical Hamilton, despite the fact that I've never seen it, and only enjoyed the amazing soundtrack. It's not a love that's died down over the past few weeks - indeed, it's only continued to grow - so it's no surprise that I picked up Hamilton: A Revolution, which tells the story of the writing of the musical, as well as providing Miranda's annotations for all of the show's songs and lyrics.Hamilton: A Revolution is unabashedly a book that's written to capitalize on the show's popularity, as well as the difficulty in seeing it. Filled with pictures of the production, the cast, the props, and more, the book provides a bit of soothing balm for those of us out in the rest of America who probably won't ever get to see the show on Broadway, and definitely not while Miranda is still playing the lead role. The fact that the book alternates between short essays and songs from the show allows the pictures to nicely complement the text at all times, giving the reader a sense of how the show might play out, and giving us the chance to pair images with the songs that so many of us already know by heart. More than that, though, they give you a sense of the care that went into the staging of the show; from the set to the costuming, from the insanely detailed props to the intricate stage layout, the book conveys the fact that the show is every bit as carefully crafted and intricately constructed as the album and the songs.The essays only serve to back this up, too. By and large, the essays serve as a chronological tracking of the birth of the show, beginning with Miranda's initial songs, moving through the famous White House performance, and following the story all the way through the premiere and beyond. Meanwhile, the book's structure - the aforementioned alternating between songs and essays - allows some essays to pair more directly with certain songs, focusing on key roles, casting decisions, historical craft, and more. It all comes together to make something more than your usual "behind the scenes" book, instead giving you a rich portrait of the show, the history, the key players, and more.But let's be clear: the main draw for many people (myself included) are the lyrics and annotations by Miranda. Even with all the time I've spent on Genius reading the show's annotations can't replace the glee of reading the lyrics in a beautifully made book, and getting to savor all of Miranda's wonderful prose - the wordplay, the historical allusions, the shout-outs to old school rap and Broadway staples, all of it. And better still are Miranda's annotations, which eschew the things I already knew in favor of personal commentary, silly asides, mentions of his favorite parts of the show, and more. Rather than just being a director's commentary sort of thing, the annotations feel more personal and engaging, giving me the sense once again that Miranda isn't just unfairly brilliant; he's also funny, engaging, thoughtful, and incredibly personable.I could also mention how beautiful the book is - not just the pictures, but the beautiful cover, the intentionally "ancient" feel that makes it feel like a Revolutionary War tome - but really, here's the thing. Do you love Hamilton? If the answer is "yes," then you'll really love this. If the answer is "no"...well, what's wrong with you, then? To be truthful, I came back to Amazon to order another as a gift, but there don't seem to be any available. So glad I ordered early! Looking forward to enveloping myself in this Hamilton word and pictures story, that is until I actually get to see the show... A girl can dream :-)Edited to add: and the dream is almost a reality... I got this for a relative in the hospital who needed cheering up. She colors the pictures and can point to whichever fits the current situation. It gives her something constructive to do with a touch of humor.

Not at all what I expected. It’s mostly pages to color with really boring designs. And of the very few activity/puzzle pages that are in it, the words and numbers are so small that they’re really hard to read. The print quality is also really bad throughout the whole book. Don’t waste your money.

A little raunchy but funny if you’re not too uptight. Probably a good gag gift for someone with a naughty sense of humor which I have.

Great book for old favorites. Not too good for low fat or low sugar recipes. Loved the sweet potato casserole.

Applehood & Motherpie is a great collection of recipes for those who love to entertain. I frequently host small gatherings at home and this is my go-to cookbook. The recipes are failproof and don't require obscure, hard to find ingredients. Plenty of variety and not the usual boring recipes that I can find in a Betty Crocker book. Every dessert I have made from this has turned out fantastic. Also, the cocktail recipes are super unique (great for parties, most are very easy to whip up). I love the retro feel of this book, especially the hardcover version. This is a classic recipe book that everyone should own!

I have had this cookbook for at least 10 years, maybe more. I have used many recipes, but I do have my favorites. It's worth buying the book just for the Senator Russell Sweet Potatoes recipe. I make this every year for Thanksgiving, and even my husband, who won't eat anything else mashed, and my oldest son, who doesn't like mashed OR nuts, love this dish. I serve it with the turkey, even though it can be a dessert. If there are leftovers, they are gone the next day... Also a favorite is the Brunch Casserole. There are great recipes for quiche, and even, believe it or not, apple pie! You won't be sorry if you buy this for yourself or as a gift. :0)
