This book is straight forward and has a wealth of information. I am a Mom of a kid that is entering Junior year and was confused about what getting into a good college meant. I was always getting conflicting information from parents around me. I bought this book because I felt that I needed some basic understanding of the process. I felt educated and this book gave me a road map on how to proceed and I feel comfortable about helping my daughter navigate this tough process with less stress.There were a couple of things that weren't mentioned: (1) How do college admission folks look at an application of a student that went through extraneous circumstances(2) Would taking AP classes outside of school matter as much as taking them as part of school.I would recommend this book for parents of students and all high school students.
I'd encourage anyone who is a parent of a high school student looking to understand the college admissions process to read this book cover to cover.This book is the equivalent of “ What to expect when you are expecting“ series.It will relieve the mystery/ stress of the admissions process time.This should be a must have book for all 9th grade students and parents. I recently finished Stairway to College Heaven. I have an older daughter who is a sophomore in college and a younger son who is a sophomore in high school. I wish this book had been available when we we went through the college process the first time. There was so much information we didn't know - especially about timing and how present your best authentic self. Even though we worked with my daughter's private school counselor, we were months behind in the process. My daughter's life would have been so different the fall of her senior year if we had access to this book. My son will truly benefit from what I've learned in this short read that is packed with information and fun.

Pleasantly surprising is the entertainment factor while learning how to successfully navigate through the college admission process. I didn't fall asleep, not even one time!
