My 7 and 9 year olds both love these books! They are easy reads but still have enough content to keep their interest. We love them because they are educational and through a child’s prospective rather than just informational! We especially love ones that they have actually lived through, we have lived through, or somewhere we have visited! Provokes a conversation outside of the book!
My son LOVES these books. They are perfect for older kids. True stories of survival and overcoming the most incredible disasters in history. These stories stick in his mind and encourage him. This story is his favorite.
Story gives a child’s perspective of the events for middle school interest. However the back story at the beginning of the book causes the story to be slow and frustrating. I would have liked to have more details of Hawaii rather than the backstory back in New York. Feels like two stories.
I read this book aloud to my three children ages 6, 8, and 10. It took us a couple of hours and we read it over two days. The kids were very interested in the story of Danny and his perspective of the Pearl Harbor attack. I would recommend this for children of any age.
