In this book we are given more background, and stories aboutthe Triple D's that have been visited.And of course along with those extras, we still get the recipesthat we all want.If that is not enough, we also get the skinny on the people thatare never seen, the behind the camera staff, and other membersthat make DD&D go.Guy Fieri has the ideal job, being able to go from coast to coast,and border to border, going to these eateries, and meeting ownersand local people, as well the folks that prepare all of those awesomedishes.Guy and Triple D, have been in my state 4 or 5 times, and my wife andI have eaten at most of the places that he visited.The book is spot on, as is the TV DD&D.To quote Guy.........Great Job.

This is an "Americana" book more than a "survey of food" book. I have to admit that Guy Fieri's voice is rather -- well, fiery -- I got a lot out of this book but frankly, I'd rather have re-read one of the old Calvin Trilling books like ALICE, LET'S EAT.

When we walked into the diner, we mentioned "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and we were treated like royalty. It was so much fun and we must have stayed for two hours. Since this book was printed a few years ago, we first checked on-line to see if the restaurant was still in operation. We put the address in our GPS and found it with no problem. Just do it, it's so much fun but be sure to mention where you are from and that this is your first visit. It's a blast!!!

The kitschy style of this book is what adds to it's appeal. It is just as "Off the hook" as it's author. While there are many places Guy has reviewed, it would be nice if he could include a few more recipes from some of the places, even if 'his take' on some are slightly different. (I realize that most of these recipes are proprietary, which makes the 'diner, drive-in or dive' the place that it is,) but I would still like to see more recipes included. Also, a "state by state" index would make finding the restaurants a little easier, instead of sifting through the masses.Bottom line: I would buy it again, make no mistake!

Withjust one wrong response we can do harm to a child's emotions,confidence, and self-esteem. This is a great book because as a Court Appointed Special Advocate(CASA) I specialized in emancipated youth and they have the samequestions as well, despite their transitioning from a child to an adult. This book was the best one I have found for the adoption of a (not newborn) foster child. Most adoption books include a section on the birth mother choosing the adopted family with care, which is often not the case.Our little girl who is 4 laughs through the book as I tear up because she was made perfect for us.

Best adoption book! Great resource for parents to use with their children to teach them about adoption.

As we see more and more families adopting, the demand and need for children's books that these kids can relate to is so important. Thanks to this author for helping parents everywhere answer such an important question in a way that a five-year old can understand. It's the perfect blend of humor and heart-warming storytelling. Growing up my closest cousin (only cousin on my Mother's side) was adopted. I don't think it ever occurred to us to ask why or what that meant. It was just a thing that was. To be fair anytime the three of us (my sister, my cousin, and I) were in a tiff it was nothing for either side to retort 'I don't have to like you as you aren't my real cousin. This came from all of us and was soon forgotten as we moved onto other interests, mayhem, and tiffs. None of us ever took it seriously and we went on to be college roommates. My cousin went on to find her birth mother when we were adults. You know though, despite the never questioning or even caring that she was adopted, I never gave it much thought what the interactions she might have had outside our little circle. I just always remember how well our family handled it. There was never not knowing, it was never a secret, and it was never seen as anything less than what it was. . .family. I remember is college when she was cleaning at her mom's house and found documents from her short time in foster care while parental rights were being transferred. The fact that for a few short weeks she had a different name. I think that was the most I'd ever seen the idea of being adopted bother her. To be fair, I can't imagine ever being another name. And wondering what that person might have been compared to who I became.I tell you all of that to share why I felt it was so important for me to read and review this book. My life has been positively touched by adoption and I can't imagine my life without my cousin. While we may have grown apart as adults she is part of so many fond growing up memories. While we never found ourselves questioning anything about the idea that she was part of our family I know that many children will. I'm going to get really personal here and probably step on a lot of toes. I do not begin to understand families that keep that a child is adopted a secret, or thing they need to wait until a certain age or event or what have you to tell that child they are adopted. I feel like it throws shade on everything and unintentionally creates the mindset that they are different or bad or wrong or in some way less than other children they know. I don't remember not knowing. By not knowing it wasn't a thing. However, I'm sure there are many children less like us and more questioning things. Why? How? But? What if? Perhaps my cousin felt these things but it was never shared with me, even into our older years.I've rambled on entirely too long without sharing how much I LOVED this book and that it's the perfect addition for every families library (adoption included or not). The illustrations are quirky and engaging drawing their own conversation starters. The story, while rhyming is not sing-songy and is engaging. It brings a touch of silly to a serious conversation while still maintaining the respect for the importance and magnitude of a questioning child's fears. Perfect for families, Sunday School, and even classrooms in the public sector this book brings to light fears that many children face as well as gentle reminders that there is no such thing as a perfect child. Nothing like this. I loved my first copy of this, so much, that it inspired me to write my own books.

I own both of these books, as well as the author's later volume "The Grandmothers of Greenbush." I have cooked some magnificent meals with these recipes, and I have a personal connection, as many of the descendants of the people interviewed eventually lived in other parts of the city (Madison, WI)and the surrounding area, so I grew up with some of them.These recipes were born out of a truly iconic type of immigrant neighborhood in Madison. It was vibrant, rich with culture and tradition, and the community thrived.Sadly, it was eventually broken up by the "progress-minded" city fathers of the day, and a beautiful community was destroyed. But you can still enjoy the food and the memories with these wonderful books. 5 Stars!

It is not a "SCRATCH OFF" coloring book as the title suggests.I hate writing negative reviews, but the title of this book is very misleading. What I thought I was ordering, based on the title was a book of mandala prints that you scratch off with a stylus, usually wooden, that reveals the colors underneath the print. Hence the title "Mandala Scratch Off Coloring Book." There is no scratch off anywhere in this book so I am very confused as to why the author or publisher indicates it in its title.What this book actually is, is just your average, garden variety coloring book, so I'll give my opinion as such...Most of the prints are fairly simple designs. There are a few more intricate designs throughout the book, however each design is only approximately 6.25" which leaves a lot of wasted space on the page in my opinion. Which I guess could give a talented colorist room to add their own personal flair. The print quality is poor. Some prints suffer inconsistencies with the ink within individual designs that I don't believe to have been intended by the artist, and some designs may be difficult to see if the colorist has eye problems or who lack direct lighting.In looking at the designs displayed on the back cover, one would expect at least some of the designs inside the book to be a bit more intricate than what they are. In fact, none of the designs displayed on the back cover, nor the beautiful design shown on the front cover are anywhere inside the coloring book at all. Which is a shame in all honesty.All in all it's a fine 2-3 star coloring book of fairly simple mandala designs that I will probably put color to on some. However, a "Mandala SCRATCH OFF Coloring Book" it is not.

This is a total let down. The title says Scratch off. It would lead you to believe you scratch off the designs to reveal color under the coating. That is not what this is. The designs are nice I suppose but this is not what I was expecting. Very disappointed. There are 50 images printed on thin paper. There is nothing really special about it. I suppose if you enjoy coloring mandalas then you might like it but the name needs to be changed. This is so misleading.
